Friends of West Gate (FOWG)
Did you know every parent, carer and staff member at West Gate is automatically a member of Friends of West Gate?
Who are Friends of West Gate?
We are a friendly group of parents, carers and staff who meet at school to discuss ideas for fundraising events to support West Gate School pupils. We work together as a team to carry out these events, playing on each member's individual interests and strengths. Our meetings are a great opportunity to meet other parents, carers and staff and to share new ideas for fundraising events and ways we can assist West Gate School in supporting our pupils.
When do we meet? How can you become involved?
Our proposed meeting dates for the 2018/19 academic year are listed below. This includes proposed dates for Friends of West Gate supported events. We hope to make minimal changes to these dates and will make an announcement on the West Gate School Facebook page (and via email to active members) if we need to make any adjustments. New members are always welcome and if you are unable to attend our meetings but would be willing to volunteer your time to help at one of our events it would be greatly appreciated! The more help we have, the more exciting and successful our fundraising efforts can be! Together we can make this a year to remember for our young people!
What are our current projects?
We have had great success fundraising for specialist outdoor learning equipment in the past thanks to an outpouring of support and generosity from West Gate families, staff and local organisations. The photos above are some examples of equipment we have been able to fund for West Gate School pupils, thanks to this amazing generosity.
This year, we are continuing our mission to support the quality of provision at West Gate School, with emphasis on making off-site and outdoor learning more accessible and enjoyable for all pupils. Our aim is to enhance the learning opportunities that are currently available and ensure these opportunities are inclusive of every pupil. We endeavour to provide high quality equipment and provisions through our fundraising work, including part-funding three new minibus lites which will enable all pupils to broden their educational experience and enhance their classroom learning with first-hand, real world experiences. We aim to support school in improving their outdoor learning provision and its accessibility for all pupils by making contributions toward a large gazebo which will act as an outdoor classroom, in addition to wheelchair accessible outdoor play equipment.
How can you help?
The Friends of West Gate charity is extremely grateful for the ongoing support from our West Gate families, staff and the local community. We could not hope to succeed without the donation of essential funds, time and effort toward our mutual goals.
The easiset way to contribute to Friends of West Gate is to attend our meetings and share your ideas for events and fundraising opportunities. We are always interested in fun, new ideas to keep it exciting for our school. We would be extremely grateful for anyone who can donated their time at our events, helping to set up, run a stall, clean up and provide general support. Individual fundraising events on behalf of Friends of West Gate are always appreciated and can range from collection boxes and intimate coffee mornings to fun runs and corporate sponsorship. The 2018/19 Fundraising Pack is available to download by clicking the link below. The pack is full of ideas and information to help make your event a success! We appreciate every donation and if you require assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.
